In Switzerland, notaries work within strict legal system which are defined by the canton level. To respond to this situation in particular, the swisNot notary network, based on principles of impartiality, competence, dynamism and, evidently, strict compliancy with professional secrecy, was established on 1st January 2000.
swisNot includes 16 notary firms in 26 locations in 13 cantons, i.e., approximately 50 notaries with approximately 300 qualified associates.
Ongoing in-service training and the experience of its members allow them to offer a complete range of top-level notary services, whether in terms of authentication or legal and fiscal advice.
swisNot’s areas of focus
swisNot notaries are specialized in property law (in a few cantons, working with state-employed notaries), family and inheritance law as well as company and business law.

For you, swisNot offers a major advantage: you can assign one single notary for all your operations in Switzerland even though owing to federal structure, the judicial authorities are organised differently in each canton, and each procedure in individual legal spheres also differ according to the relevant canton.
Your swisNot notary will find the best solution for you, taking into account specific features of the relevant canton in fiscal and property matters in particular, and, with your approval, will consult and assign colleagues in other cantons, if necessary, to apply it.

swisNot is also a founder member of the Lexunion – International Legal & Notarial Strategies (previous: Groupe International Patrimoine & Entreprise – GIPE) which it currently chairs. Through it, your swisNot notary is able to offer individuals and companies the same services in a large number of countries, within and outside Europe.
